September 15, 2025
At Swankey, we believe the best celebrations tell a story—and Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) is full of them.
This month is all about honoring the rich traditions, powerful histories, and vibrant cultures of Latinx communities—while making space for joy, connection, and reflection. We're here to celebrate the everyday brilliance, resilience, and beauty of Latinx people everywhere.
Whether you’re Latinx and looking to honor your roots, or showing up as an ally to support and celebrate, here are seven ways to mark the month in a way that feels intentional, vibrant, and unforgettable.
Food brings people together, and every dish has a backstory. Invite your community to bring meals from their culture or Latinx recipes they love. Think mole poblano, arroz con gandules, arepas, or even that one abuela-approved dessert that never misses. (we’ve linked our fav recipes!)
Pro tip: Set out little tent cards where guests can write the dish name and its origin or family significance. You’re not just feeding people…you’re passing down traditions.
Set the scene for a cozy night in or a backyard movie moment. Feature films by Latinx creators (Real Women Have Curves, In the Heights, Encanto), followed by a playlist that spans salsa to reggaetón.
Bonus points: Have a friend teach a basic bachata or cumbia step mid-party. No judgment, only vibes!
Need help coordinating RSVPs, dishes, and playlists? That’s what Swankey’s for. We’ll keep the chaos low and the fun high.
Celebrating culture can look like shopping locally. This month, try booking a Latinx caterer for your event, sharing your favorite Latinx-owned businesses online, supporting a Latinx student scholarship fund, or gifting from artists who infuse heritage into their work.
It’s a small action that makes a real impact. And it’s the kind of support that goes beyond a single month.
Hispanic Heritage Month isn’t just about what we eat, wear, or dance to. It's truly about understanding what Latinx communities face and fight for. This year, many are celebrating amid the real stress of increased immigration raids and targeted enforcement. We can honor culture and show up at the same time.
***Create space to talk, learn, and reflect. Whether it’s through books, storytelling, or donating to local immigrant support groups. Celebration and solidarity go hand in hand.
Throw a brunch. Host a panel. Start a book club. Plan a block party. Whatever your version of “bringing people together” looks like, do it with the intention of making space for the Latinx community, and bringing the heart of their undeniable impact on this country to the center.
And remember, you don’t need to know everything to celebrate respectfully. You just need to show up with care.
Hispanic Heritage Month is about joy, pride, resilience, and the shared stories that make up who we are. Whether you’re planning something big or something intimate, the point is this: don’t just admire from afar. Join in.
Celebrate fully. Support intentionally. Plan with purpose.
